Funded by the ASEAN Korea Cooperation Fund (AKFC), the government of Lao PDR and together with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) are currently implementing the “ASEAN-Korea Cooperation for Methane Mitigation (AKCMM) Project” among other ASEAN Member States (AMS) including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The project will run for a duration of three years, from 07 November 2024 to 06 November 2027, with a total project value of USD 19.9 million, of which approximately USD 2.7 million has been allocated for activities in Lao PDR.
In Lao PDR, GGGI will work closely with the Department of Environment under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MoAE) to implement the project, in collaboration with relevant line departments and ministries. The project aims to enhance methane emission reductions in Laos, particularly in key emitting sectors such as agriculture, waste, and energy.
