Project Summary

The ASEAN–Korea Cooperation for Methane Mitigation (AKCMM) Project in Indonesia supports the Government of Indonesia in strengthening national methane mitigation efforts, with a strong focus on the waste sector. Aligned with Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the UNFCCC, the project works to enhance institutional and policy frameworks for methane reduction, while improving the quality of methane emissions inventories and the Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system.

The AKCMM Project supports the development of a national methane reduction plan and roadmap, providing technical assistance to identify priority mitigation actions and align them with national climate targets. In addition, the project demonstrates practical methane mitigation solutions in the waste sector, including support for project pipeline development and resource mobilization to enable effective implementation and long-term sustainability. Through close collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and other key stakeholders, the project contributes to accelerating methane mitigation actions across Indonesia.
